DEVELOPING A GROWTH MINDSET

How do you know if you've got a growth mindset?

“A time comes when you need stop waiting for the you want to become and start being the person you want to be.”

                  - Bruce Springsteen

Once formal education is done, it becomes your responsibility to take ownership of your growth process, because no other person will do it for you. Personal growth doesn’t happen on its own nor by chance. If you want your life to  improve, you must improve it yourself by being intentional about your growth and not assuming everything will just fall into place when the time comes, no, it wouldn’t.

“If you’re clear with what you want, the world responds with clarity.”

                - Loretta Staples

People think of growth as something distance and abstract. Growth in it’s simplest form means growing into what you want. You grow into your next position before actually getting the promotion, you grow into your potential job by becoming someone capable of accomplishing the big goals the new job entails. Growth means you are intentional and curious about learning new things, you want to succeed, no doubt about that, but how strongly do you want it? Are you doing the things necessary right now that will move you closer to your next level of elevation?

Growth is about small personal improvements.

What do you need to do now, in your life career or business to improve your future?

For me personally, I read tonnes of self help books on cognitive psychology, and other helpful topics I can get value from.

I immersed myself completely on every detail, learning the intricacies of it all. I enrolled in various online courses and went back to school for my doctorate education.

You can be more if you are willing to do more!

Structuring your environment is key to success. And often, subtraction improves your environment.

Thinking brings clarity.

Thinking can lead to change.

Are you a thinker?

At work in your present role, are you showing as much eagerness to learn and grow to qualify you for the next round of promotion opportunities? You have to show that you want it bad enough to have it, and you can only do that by growing into that next position by your willingness to learn and ask questions.

It’s much better if you can, to plan your growth intentional than learning from the school of hard knocks. Because, with the school of hard knocks, experiences can go either way. You either change for the better, or change for the worse. The lessons are sometimes difficult and painful. But if you plan your growth intentionally, you choose and decide your lives trajectory. Where you want to go and where you need to go is planned out, so you choose what Information is important to you, what you ought to learn, and you follow it through with discipline and dedication going at your own pace. In this state of intentionally, you’ve got no time to check your neighbours lawn to see if the grass is greener, you’re in your zone, growing steadily.

The Law of Diminishing Intent says “The longer you wait to do something you should do now, the greater the odds that you will never actually do it.”

There are growth opportunities all around you, you just need to open your eyes to the endless possibilities.

I hope you’re open minded enough to look for the opportunities you need for your growth and development.
